'Slaughter-free' cow's milk is produced at farm in Kent

Help

Organic milk from cows which will not be slaughtered when their milking days are over is being produced in Kent.

The Ahimsa Dairy Foundation (ADF), a Hindu organisation, has teamed up with Commonwork Organic Farm, near Sevenoaks, to produce the milk.

Dairy cows are usually slaughtered when they stop producing milk, but the small Ahimsa herd will see out their days in comfort.

A litre currently costs £2.25 and is mainly distributed in north-west London and Hertfordshire.
