Chatham murder-charge man remanded in custody

A man has appeared in court via a video link, charged with the murder of a Kent woman who was found dead in a flat.

Marcus Coates, 43, of Ernest Road, Chatham, Kent, was remanded in custody by magistrates at Medway.

He is accused of murdering Jennie Banner, 32, who was found dead at the flat in New Road, Chatham, on Friday.

Mr Coates will appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Wednesday. A man arrested on Friday has been freed without charge.
