The parents of Kent man seriously injured in a motorbike accident in Bali fear he might die if he is not flown back to the UK soon.

The parents of Kent man seriously injured in a motorbike accident in Bali fear he might die if he is not flown back to the UK soon.

Richard Plummer, of Maidstone, has been in a coma in hospital on the Indonesian island since the crash on 1 July.

The 32-year-old's travel insurance had expired and his parents, June and Eric Plummer, have so far used their £20,000 life savings to pay for his care.

They flew back to the UK on Wednesday to try and raise funds to move him.

Mrs Plummer said: "I didn't want to leave, I didn't want to come home. I wanted to stay but we couldn't stay any longer."

'Praying and hoping'

When she was asked what would happen to her son if he could not be flown home, she added: "I don't know. I really don't know, I don't know whether he'll just die."

Their eldest son Rob and Richard's pregnant girlfriend Indri remain at their son's bedside.

Mr Plummer said: "I dread to think what will happen if we don't get him home. We're just praying and hoping that this week we can get him repatriated."

Richard Plummer has been in Bali since 2009.

Helen Grant, MP for Maidstone and the Weald, has been supporting the Plummers' bid to get their son transported by air ambulance from Bali.

She said Mr and Mrs Plummer were hoping to raise £80,000 to enable him to make the 8,000-mile (12,975km) trip back home.
