Hundreds of Sikhs have taken part in a procession through the Kent city of Rochester to celebrate the opening of their new Gurdwara.

Civic leaders joined members of the Sikh community in a march from their old building in Cossack Street to the new temple in Lankester Parker Road.

The event involved the moving of the Sikh Holy book, the Guru Granth Sahib, on an open trailer.

Sikhs have been worshipping at the old temple since 1966.
