Thieves stole a pair of tortoises from a garden shed during a crime spree in a Kent village.

The 30-year-old animals, belonging to a 78-year-old woman, were taken from a shed in Woodchurch Road, Shadoxhurst.

Kent Police said thieves also stole tools and other equipment from garages, sheds and parked cars and vans.

Officers have advised residents to be "extra security conscious" following the eight thefts in the early hours of Monday.
