Stoke level crossing bridge 'to improve A228 safety'
Work to build a road bridge over a railway level crossing on the A228 in Medway will start on Monday.
The first phase of the project will see extensive work to protect the surrounding environment, including creating a habitat for water voles.
The main construction work at Stoke level crossing is expected to start in October and continue until March.
Medway Council said it would be a single carriageway bridge to realign the A228 and improve safety.
The A228 links the Hoo Peninsula with the rest of Medway.
In 2005, Medway Council said it would tackle dangerous sections along the A228 after a series of fatal and serious injury crashes on the road.
