John Heald
Police have warned the public not to approach John Heald

Police are searching for a man in connection with the death of a hotel landlady in East Yorkshire.

Humberside Police said they want to find John Heald, 53, from South Yorkshire, who was staying at the hotel on Marshall Avenue in Bridlington.

Bei Carter, 49, was found dead at the Morayland Hotel just before midnight on Friday.

Police are treating the death as murder and have asked Mr Heald to contact them.

Det Ch Insp Matt Baldwin said: "It is imperative that we locate John Heald as soon as possible and I would appeal to him to make contact with us urgently.

"If anyone has been contacted by Mr Heald or knows anything about his whereabouts, I would ask them to do the right thing, do not be swayed by a misguided sense of loyalty, ring the police now."

Police are appealing to taxi drivers and those using buses or trains who may have seen him to get in touch.

Members of the public should not approach Mr Heald but should contact police straight away, the force said.
