Man jailed for sex offences on 12-year-old boy

A man has been jailed after admitting a string of sexual offences against a young boy.

Anthony Ronald Vowles, 31, was sentenced at York Crown Court to nine years in prison for abusing a 12-year-old boy in Filey, East Yorkshire.

The victim told his parents about the attacks and Vowles, of no fixed abode, was arrested in Bridlington in January.

He admitted eight counts of sexual activity with a child and four of inciting sexual activity with a child.

Det Con Nigel Pepper, of North Yorkshire Police, said: "Anthony Vowles preyed on an extremely vulnerable young boy and used him for his own sexual gratification on a number of occasions and may have continued doing so if the victim had not found the courage to come forward."
