Melton shooting: Man in court over village shooting

A 54-year-old man has appeared in court accused of murder after a man was shot dead in an East Yorkshire village.

Jonathan Smith, 38, from the Doncaster area, was shot dead in Melton, near Hull, on Tuesday.

Peter Guy, of Melton Old Road, Melton, appeared earlier at Beverley Magistrates' Court charged with his murder.

Mr Guy was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Hull Crown Court on Wednesday.

A 15-year-old boy who appeared at Beverley Magistrates' Court on Friday has been charged with assault in connection with the incident.

He is also due to appear at Hull Crown Court on Wednesday.
