Toddler dies falling into pond in Woodmansey

A two-year-old boy has died falling into a pond, Humberside Police have said.

The toddler, who has not been named, fell into the pond at a house in Ferry Lane, Woodmansey, East Yorkshire at about 10:00 GMT on Monday.

Police said the boy was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary after failing to respond to treatment but later died.

A 29-year-old woman was arrested following the incident and released on police bail.

A police spokeswoman said the boy's death is being treated as "unexplained".

She said police officers were with the boy's family "offering them support during this terrible time".
