Tesco will be the first of the "big four" supermarkets to come to a Immingham, a council has announced.

The supermarket has secured a deal to build the new store at the Kennedy Way shopping centre.

North East Lincolnshire Council said it could provide more than 200 jobs for the town.

Council leader Chris Shaw said it would give Immingham "a town centre to be proud of". The nearest large supermarket is in Grimsby, nine miles (14 km) away.

Two more retail units, for Poundstretcher and B&M, will also be built on the site.
