Colin Andrews Colin Andrews will appear at a magistrates' court in Manchester next month

A former senior Humberside Police officer has been charged with stalking, common assault, harassment and rape.

Colin Andrews, 57, was a Chief Supt for a number of years until retiring, when he took on the civilian role of business manager for the force.

Humberside Police said he has been suspended from his post since his arrest last year.

The force said the charges followed an Independent Police Complaints Commission investigation.

He will appear at Manchester City Magistrates' Court next month.
