Poppy Widdison cause of death is 'unexplained'
The cause of death of a four-year-old Grimsby girl who died after receiving serious injuries is "unexplained", according to Humberside Police.
Police said two people arrested in connection with the death of Poppy Widdison had been released on bail.
A 34-year-old woman and 36-year-old man were both arrested on Sunday after Poppy was admitted to Diana Princess of Wales Hospital in Grimsby.
She was later transferred to Sheffield Children's Hospital where she died.
Det Ch Insp Umberto Cuozzo, who is leading the investigation, said: "An exact cause of death has not been established and it is hoped that toxicology results and a thorough police investigation will assist to determine this."
He said a post-mortem examination had established Poppy had a cardiac arrest but did not die of a heart attack.
"Our investigations are continuing, and at this time we are not looking to make any further arrests in connection with the death of Poppy Widdison," he added.
