Poppy Widdison death: Police continue to question pair

Police have been given more time to question two people arrested after a four-year-old girl died in hospital with serious injuries.

Poppy Widdison, of Ladysmith Road, Grimsby, died at Sheffield Children's Hospital on Monday.

Police are treating her death as unexplained. A 34-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man were arrested on Monday and have been held in custody.

Humberside Police refused to confirm the length of the custody extension.

The four-year-old, who was also known as Poppy Pyke, was admitted to Grimsby's Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital on Sunday after sustaining serious injuries.

She was transferred to Sheffield Children's Hospital, where she died the next day.
