Red cards handed out to 'drunks' banning them from Hull

Red cards are being handed out in Hull to those who have been drinking and causing a nuisance as part of a new initiative.

Police said once a red card was issued the person was banned from the city centre for 48 hours.

Those who returned within two days would be arrested and prosecuted under the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006.

Humberside Police said it hoped the initiative would keep workers and visitors to the city safe.
