Grimsby man in court over estranged wife's murder

A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of his estranged wife.

Linda Merigo, 40, died of multiple stab wounds after she was found outside a house in Clematis Close in Driffield at 1750 BST on Wednesday.

Alfredo George Mario Merigo, 43 of Grimsby, was remanded in custody by Beverley magistrates. He is next due to appear at Hull Crown Court on Monday.

A Humberside Police spokesman said Mrs Merigo's family were being supported by officers.

He appealed to anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
