Crushed Corus steel worker identified

A contractor who was crushed to death in an accident at a Corus steelworks has been named.

Barry Shaw died when he was trapped between a lorry tractor unit and a trailer at the plant in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, on Saturday.

Humberside Police said Mr Shaw, 53, lived on Top Road in South Killingholme.

A police spokesman said no one else was involved in the incident.

Police and the Health and Safety Executive are investigating.

Mr Shaw's death is the second to have occurred on the Scunthorpe site in four months.

Thomas Standerline, 26, of Burton-upon-Stather, died after he was injured while working at the steelworks on 23 April.
