West Mercia and Warwickshire Police to recruit 140 officers

Two police forces are seeking to recruit 140 new officers.

West Mercia Police and Warwickshire Police, which operate in an alliance, said they are advertising for student officers to fill posts on both forces.

In January, West Mercia said it had cut 200 jobs and closed police stations as part of plans to save £20.1m by 2015.

However, West Mercia's Police and Crime Commissioner Bill Longmore said maintaining front-line officers was "a key priority".
