A bridge in Worcestershire has reopened to traffic - months later than originally hoped.

The £8m scheme to replace Evesham's Abbey Bridge began in September and had been due to end in December.

But weeks of work on the project were lost because of the bad weather, contractor Hochtief said.

Despite reopening on Monday, the traffic lights on the bridge were not working due to a power failure, the county council said.

Some businesses in Evesham said they had been affected by the work. Jeremy Davies, from Bridge Street-based locksmith Amber-locks, said takings were down by £8,000.

The bridge's official opening is expected to take place on 31 March.
