The redevelopment of a Worcestershire college is going ahead after the project secured £5.8m from the Skills Funding Agency.

Pershore College will build a new science and technology centre and research and development facilities.

Planning permission was granted last month by Wychavon District Council and work will start immediately.

The college is a national centre for horticulture situated on a 60 hectare site.

Acting Principal Tamsin Jones said the new facilities would help the college tackle skills shortages in horticulture and food production.

"In addition they will give us the research facilities needed to support these industries into the future," she added.
