Worcestershire man dies in 'severe' house fire

The property in Bishops Hall Fire crews said the blaze was on the first floor and in the roof of the property

A man has died in a fire at his home in north Worcestershire.

Crews were called to an address in Bishop Hall Crescent, Charford, Bromsgrove, at 16:27 GMT on Tuesday, following reports of a "severe fire" on the first floor and in the roof.

Fire officers wearing breathing apparatus tried to rescue the man - who was in his 40s - but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation into how the blaze started has been launched.

Group Commander Mick Cadman from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said: "Sadly the gentleman lost his life, and our thoughts go out to his family and friends."

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "Nothing could be done to save the person and they were confirmed deceased at the scene."
