Broadway firework explosion: People in crowd injured

A number of people have been injured after reports of a firework exploding in the crowd at an organised display.

West Midlands Ambulance Service crews attended the incident in Childswickham Road, Broadway, Worcestershire.

A spokesman said: "Two adults presented with minor leg and chest injuries and two children were assessed."

He said at least five other people received minor injuries but left the scene before ambulance staff arrived.

Gary Thompson's wife was one of those injured - her thigh was severely bruised after being hit by a firework.

The 51-year-old said a firework appeared to ricochet into the crowd after hitting a parked van.
