Worcester fire Good Samaritan has handbag stolen

A Good Samaritan who stopped to help a man who was on fire had her handbag stolen while she gave him first aid.

The man was found on fire near the Saracen's Head pub in the centre of Worcester on Sunday afternoon.

Among those who stopped were a couple who pulled over in their car and ran over. Police said while the car was unattended, someone stole the bag.

The injured man, in his 40s, remains in a critical condition in hospital with serious burns.

PC Simon Hill, from West Mercia Police, said: "Can an opportunistic thief be any more callous than to steal from someone while they are giving first aid to someone with life-threatening injuries?"
