Stourport postal votes cancelled after error

Postal votes for 2,000 people in Worcestershire have been cancelled due to an error on the ballot papers.

Wyre Forest District Council said ballot papers sent to voters in Stourport-on-Severn had the wrong information about the number of candidates to vote for.

New postal votes have already been sent out, the council said.

The deputy returning officer said there was "plenty of time" to complete these before the 2 May deadline.

The new postal voting pack includes a letter that apologises for the error and explains why voters need to complete and return the new ballot paper, even if they have already returned the incorrect ballot paper.
