Redditch metal workers in week off over financial troubles

Workers have been asked to stay away from two metal firms as they currently cannot trade due to financial difficulties.

Advanced Casting and Opticast (UK) Limited, which are part of the same group, employ more than 30 people.

The group said it was working with banks to try to save the firms based at Pipers Road in Redditch.

One worker who did not want to be named said colleagues were "in the lurch" and he had seen some "in tears".

The group said workers should have been paid on Friday, but had not received money yet.

It added the parent company was working with banks to try to save the firms and it hoped to have an answer for workers on Wednesday.

The unnamed worker added: "We live week to week with our wages. We've got bills to pay.

"I want the company to be honest with the workers."
