Steven Cleaver made indecent child images

A former council worker has been given a supervision order after admitting making indecent images of children.

Steven Cleaver, from St George's Road, Dudley, worked for Worcestershire County Council, arranging transport for vulnerable children.

Last month, the 41-year-old pleaded guilty to 16 counts of making images between 2006 and 2012.

At Wolverhampton Crown Court, he was given a three-year supervision order and 100 hours of community service.

Cleaver was also told he would be put on the sex offenders' register for five years.

On sentencing, Recorder Stephen Lowne said "it was important society keeps chipping away at this evil".

Indecent images and videos found on his personal computer dated back to 2006.

The court heard some of them were among the most severe category and depicted girls aged six to nine years old, while others were babies.

Cleaver admitted to the court he had an obsession and said he needed help.

A spokesperson for the county council said: "It would be inappropriate to comment about existing or previous members of staff during ongoing court proceedings other than to confirm that Mr Cleaver was employed by the county council, although not in a role where he would have had direct contact with vulnerable children."
