Herefordshire Council's child protection 'inadequate'

A report by Ofsted has found Herefordshire Council's safeguarding services to protect children to be "inadequate".

The council said inspectors carried out an unannounced visit in September.

The report raised a number of areas for improvement including decision making, information sharing and stability of the workforce.

Councillor Patricia Morgan said: "We are very disappointed with the findings but accept them."

An improvement board with an independent chair has been set up start to make the necessary changes, the council said.
