Stourport Manor House Nursing Home residents rehoused

A "failing" Worcestershire care home has closed.

The nursing home, which had employed 44 staff, closed earlier and its 24 elderly residents were rehomed, a council spokesperson said.

The Manor House Nursing Home in Stourport went into administration in June after failing a Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection.

Administrator Grant Thornton UK said it "regrettably" had to make 36 staff positions redundant.

Paul Addison, joint administrator from Grant Thornton UK LLP, added the remaining staff would be helping "for a short period" in the final administrative matters.

A spokesman for Worcestershire County Council said none of the residents had been moved out of the Wyre Forest area unless that was their wish to do so.

He added: "We will be monitoring residents closely over the next few weeks to make sure they are settling into their new surroundings."
