Swimmer drowns in Madley lake

A man in his 20s has died while swimming in a lake in Herefordshire, police say.

West Mercia Police said the man's body was pulled from the water near Lower Lulham Farm, near Madley, on Saturday night.

The man, thought to be a foreign national, had been in a boat with another man who raised the alarm when he failed to resurface, police said.

The Herefordshire coroner has been informed, a spokesperson said.

Police received a call from the West Midlands Ambulance Service at around 19:00 BST, the spokesperson added.
