Recruitment of a new chief executive at Herefordshire Council could cost up to £95,000, the council says.

The current chief executive, Chris Bull, announced in July he would be leaving his post at the end of October.

The cost for an external candidate could reach £95,000 however, should the council recruit internally it could cost up to £5,000, a spokesman said.

Councillors, who must vote on new roles with a salary over £100,000, will discuss the options on 13 August.

The council will confirm the candidate in either September or November, the spokesman added.
