Worcester Cathedral Diamond Jubilee celebration

Worcester Cathedral All the cathedral choirs are taking part in the service

A special service celebrating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee at Worcester Cathedral has musical links to previous coronations.

The service will feature the anthem I Was Glad by Sir Hubert Parry (1848-1918), written for the coronation of Edward VII, and Handel's Zadok the Priest, which was sung as the Queen entered for her coronation.

The organ voluntary at the end of the celebration service will be Pomp and Circumstance March no. 4 by Sir Edward Elgar.

The cathedral choir, voluntary choir and chamber choir will join together for the service at 16:00 BST on Sunday, 3 June.

The service will be attended by the Mayor of Worcester, the Deputy Lieutenant for Worcestershire, and the Bishop of Worcester.

The Very Reverend Peter Atkinson, Dean of Worcester, said: "We look forward to everyone coming to give thanks for Her Majesty's reign."
