Herefordshire taxi licence fee set to increase

Taxi drivers' licence fees are to go up in Herefordshire, the council has said.

Drivers staged a protest on Friday over the planned rise but councillors have voted to agree that taxpayers should no longer pay towards the cost of the service, which was £33,000.

The price of Hackney carriage and private hire licences could now increase from £239 to £285.

Taxi associations will now meet council officials to go over new prices, the council said.
