A number of schools in Herefordshire and Worcestershire have been affected by adverse weather.
Michaelchurch Escley Primary School, in Hereford, was closed because of a burst water pipe.
Much Birch CE Primary School in Hereford and Fairfield High School in Peterchurch were among those shut.
In Worcestershire, several schools opened later but no schools were fully closed, the county council said.
Worcestershire County Council said its new online alert system about school closures saw technical problems earlier, but was now up and running.
Councillor Steven Clee said: "Our staff successfully got the site back online before 9am but we apologise wholeheartedly for the inconvenience caused to local people."
Up to 3in (7cm) of snow fell in parts of Herefordshire and Worcestershire overnight.
Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said people should double check that pipes were fully insulated.
Further snowfalls and sub-zero temperatures are being seen across large parts of England.
