Theatre grants hit in Arts Council England budget cuts

About £100,000 in grants will be cut from arts projects in Herefordshire and Worcestershire, it has been announced.

At least 10 organisations in the two counties will be affected by Arts Council England's (ACE) decision to reduce its grants by 7% next year.

Malvern Theatres will lose £4,000 from its 2010/2011 £59,775 grant and Hereford's Courtyard Theatre will lose £15,000 of its current £227,319 grant.

ACE's own budget was cut by 29% in the government Spending Review.
