Calmore house fire death treated as 'unexplained'

The death of a man in a house fire in Hampshire is being treated as unexplained.

Brent Mason, 66, was found dead after the blaze which started at Yew Tree Cottage, The Drove, in the Calmore area of Totton, shortly after 08:00 BST on Tuesday.

A post-mortem examination proved "inconclusive", police said.

A woman was treated in hospital for the effects of breathing in smoke. Five other family members escaped the fire.

Specialist police and fire officers remain at the house gathering evidence as part of the investigation into the fire.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
