Belinda Dalby's Southampton shelter death 'not suspicious'
A man accused of murdering a woman at a homeless shelter in Southampton has been cleared, after a pathologist said her death was not suspicious.
The body of Belinda Dalby, 26, was discovered at The Society of St James, in Millbrook Road East, on 13 June.
Jamie Nicholson 30, of Edelvale Road, was due to be tried for murder.
A not-guilty verdict was recorded at a hearing at Winchester Crown Court after the Crown Prosecution Service offered no evidence against Mr Nicholson.
Hampshire Constabulary said officers from its major investigation team had received documents from Home Office pathologist Dr Basil Purdue, which had identified the cause of death.
The force did not reveal what had killed Ms Dalby, but said the death was no longer being treated as suspicious.
A report is being prepared for the inquest, where the cause of death will be released.
