Beach cleaning cuts set for Isle of Wight

17 July 2014 Last updated at 04:17 BST

Funding for cleaning the Isle of Wight's tourist beaches could be ended as the local authority continues to implement budget cuts.

The Isle of Wight Council said it could save £150,000 a year, as part of efforts to reduce spending by £28m over three years.

Critics say the move could be a false economy as the island relies on attracting thousands of visitors each summer.
