Man held after explosive device found in Southampton
A man has been arrested after an explosive device was found in the garden of a property in Southampton.
Several homes were evacuated after police were called to a house in Manor Farm Road, Bitterne Park, at 09:40 BST.
Hampshire police said a 100m cordon was put up and a controlled explosion was carried out by bomb disposal experts.
A force spokesman said a 41-year-old man was held on suspicion of making an explosive device.
The road was closed and local bus services diverted while the incident was dealt with.
