The family of a woman who died in a crash between her car and a refuse lorry in Romsey have said she was "full of life" and "always an active member of the community".

Margaret Stone, from Leckford, Stockbridge, died in the crash on Yokesford Hill, between Bunny Lane and Jinny Lane, on Monday morning.

She was driving a blue Vauxhall Meriva and died at the scene. No-one else was injured.

Police have appealed for witnesses.

A statement, released by Hampshire Constabulary on behalf of Mrs Stone's family, said she had been involved with the Girls' Brigade, scouting movement, and had also worked as a volunteer at Cherry Orchard care home in Andover.

It added she and her late husband were also keen members of churches in Leckford and Romsey.

"Since losing Michael five years ago, Margaret had been making a new life for herself and was in the process of moving to Romsey," the statement said.

"She loved travel and enjoyed good food and quality time with friends and family, and will be sorely missed by the many people whose lives she touched."
