Biker arrested after Portsmouth pillion passenger death crash

A motorcyclist has been arrested after a crash in Portsmouth in which his female pillion passenger died.

The crash between the green Kawasaki motorbike and a car happened on the junction of Eastern Road and Airport Service Road on Tuesday just after 18:40 GMT.

The woman in her 20s, received serious injuries and was later pronounced dead.

The 27-year-old biker was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and has been held in custody.

The driver of the Ford Focus, a woman in her 40s, was not injured.

Insp Richard Parsons of Hampshire Police said: "Investigating officers are particularly keen to hear from anyone who noticed the manner in which the motorcycle was being ridden shortly before this collision occurred."
