Girl, 14, dies in two-car crash on Isle of Wight

One teenager has died and two others have been seriously injured in a two-car crash.

The 14-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision on the Isle of Wight just after 15:15 GMT.

She was a front-seat passenger in a red Renault Clio which collided with a silver Renault Megane in Mersley Down.

The Clio driver, an 18-year-old man from Sandown, and another passenger, a 13-year-old girl, were airlifted to Southampton General Hospital.

The driver and passenger in the Megane were also injured and taken to St Mary's Hospital in Newport, Isle of Wight.

Police are carrying out inquiries on the road between Knighton Shute and Rowlands Lane.
