High winds brought down trees across Hampshire overnight on Monday

All homes in Hampshire have been reconnected after days without power, Southern Electric has said.

About 50,000 homes were cut off after storms battered the region overnight on Monday.

Many people spent Christmas without electricity, with engineers struggling to reconnect a few hundred in rural areas around Liss.

Southern Electric said all customers had been reconnected. More bad weather is likely over the coming days.

The storms before Christmas led to homes being flooded in Whitwell, Isle of Wight and Emsworth. Several drivers had to be rescued from flood water.

Stuart Hogarth, from Southern Electric, said: "We would like to thank customers for their continued patience while our teams continued their work."
