Pedestrian killed by car on A36 at Plaitford

A driver has been arrested after a woman was killed on a road in Hampshire.

Police said the woman, who is in her 20s, was struck as she walked along the A36 at Plaitford shortly after 23:00 BST on Tuesday.

Hampshire Police said a 45-year-old man from Portsmouth was arrested on suspicion of causing death by driving without due care and attention.

They have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
