A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a man found unconscious in an alleyway in Southampton.

Kevin Wyeth, a 31-year-old father of three from Southampton, was found off Defender Road, Woolston, in the early hours of Saturday.

Damon Wright, 31, gave his address as no fixed abode when he appeared before Southampton Magistrates' Court.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Winchester Crown Court on Friday.

Mr Wyeth was found close to the cut-through with Tankerville Road at about 02:30 BST. Despite attempts to revive him, he died at the scene.

Post-mortem tests showed he died from head, facial and neck injuries.
