A man found dying in a Southampton alleyway has been named as 31-year-old Kevin Wyeth.

Mr Wyeth was found off Defender Road, Woolston, in the early hours of Saturday morning. Despite attempts to revive him, he died at the scene.

Police said post-mortem tests showed he died from head, facial and neck injuries.

A man, 31 and from Bournemouth, is being held on suspicion of murder. A woman, 25, is also in custody.

Mr Wyeth, who lived in Southampton, was found close to the cut-through with Tankerville Road.

Det Insp Ellie Hurd said: "This still remains an active investigation and we are attempting to piece together Kevin's movements in the hours before his death."

She said he was seen in Wharncliffe Road around 22:30 BST on Friday and urged anyone who had seen or spoken to him after that to get in touch.

Mr Wyeth was wearing a white sweatshirt with blue lettering across the chest, dark trousers and he was carrying a white carrier bag.
