Isle of Wight tourist information points open in shops
An information point for Isle of Wight visitors has opened in a gift shop, two years after the council shut its network of tourist information centres.
It is part of a pilot scheme for tourist information points to be hosted in private businesses.
David Thornton, of Visit Isle of Wight, said the new service would be "highly prominent and virtually unmissable".
Six tourist information centres closed in 2011 as part of Isle of Wight Council cuts with the loss of 12 jobs.
Another information point is due to open at a cafe in Brighstone on Thursday.
