A motorcyclist killed in a crash with a car was set to start a new job on Monday, his family said.

Mark Ashdown, 24, of Hardings Lane, Fair Oak, died at the scene after the collision at a crossroads along Botley Road in Fair Oak, Hampshire, on Friday.

He is one of six bikers to die in the county in the last week. Extra police patrols have been out over the weekend in an attempt to improve safety.

His family said he was "never happier when riding his bike".

A statement added: "He was looking forward to earning a living doing what he loved, as he was due to start a new job as a courier on Monday.

"Mark will be sorely missed and always in our hearts."
