Man, 19, charged over Payton Sparks death in Havant crash

A teenager has been charged in connection with the death of a 16-year-old girl in a car crash.

Payton Sparks, from Havant, died when the green Vauxhall Tigra she was travelling in hit a building at Staunton Country Park in Havant.

She died at the scene on Petersfield Road at about 22:40 BST on 25 May.

Lewis Young, 19, of no fixed abode, appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates' Court facing six charges, including causing death by dangerous driving.

He is also accused of causing serious injury to another person by driving dangerously on a road, aggravated vehicle taking, driving without insurance, driving while disqualified and making off without payment.

Mr Young was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Portsmouth Crown Court on 15 July.
