Southampton Ford workers consider their futures

Help

Workers in the Ford Transit factory near Southampton, which is due to close in August, have been talking about what the future holds.

The company announced it would be ending four decades of van production at Swathling last year, with production moving to Turkey.

At the time Ford said it hoped to achieve the job losses through voluntary redundancies and redeployments.

Some Southampton workers have taken voluntary redundancy, with some planning to start their own businesses, while others are moving to other Ford plants in different parts of the UK.
