Havant crash leaves girl, 16, dead and two others injured

A 16-year-old girl has died after the car she was travelling in left the road and crashed into a building.

Payton Sparks, of Botley Drive, Havant, was travelling in a Vauxhall Tigra when it struck premises at Staunton Country Park in Petersfield Road, Havant.

Payton was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which happened at 22:42 BST on Saturday. A 14-year-old boy suffered serious leg and head injuries.

The driver, a 19-year-old Hayling Island man, suffered serious injuries.

He was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth were he was admitted to the intensive care unit.

The 14-year-old boy from Havant was taken to Southampton General Hospital.

Hampshire Constabulary said no-one was in the building when the crash happened.

Sgt Rob Heard appealed for anyone who saw the green Vauxhall Tigra being driven in the Leigh Park or Havant areas from 22:00 BST on Saturday, to come forward.
